Trustory ("we", "us", or "our") operates the Trustory platform at app.trustory.so and related services. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your personal information when you use our website and application.
1. Information we collect
We collect information you provide directly and information generated through your use of the service:
- Account information — name, email address, company name, phone number (optional), and password (stored securely hashed).
- Content you upload — screen recordings, images, and other media you submit to create walkthroughs. See our Media Storage & Use policy for details.
- Usage data — pages visited, features used, story creation activity, and AI credit consumption.
- Technical data — IP address, browser type, device information, and cookies necessary for authentication and session management.
- Payment information — billing is handled by third-party processors (Stripe or Paystack). We do not store full card numbers on our servers.
2. How we use your information
We use the information we collect to:
- Provide, maintain, and improve the Trustory platform.
- Process your uploaded media to generate interactive walkthroughs, AI-detected clicks, narration, and exports — solely as directed by you.
- Authenticate your account and manage your workspace.
- Process payments and manage subscriptions or AI credit purchases.
- Send service-related communications (account alerts, processing status, security notices).
- Respond to support requests sent to hello@trustory.so.
- Detect, prevent, and address fraud, abuse, or technical issues.
We do not sell your personal information to third parties.
3. AI processing
Trustory uses AI services to analyse your uploaded recordings — for example, to detect clicks and generate narration. This processing is performed only to fulfil your explicit requests (creating or editing a story). We do not use your content to train general-purpose AI models without your consent.
4. Sharing with third parties
We may share information with trusted service providers who help us operate the platform, including:
- Cloud hosting and storage providers.
- Payment processors (Stripe, Paystack).
- AI and text-to-speech providers, invoked only when you use those features.
- Email and infrastructure services.
These providers are contractually required to handle data only on our instructions and in compliance with applicable privacy laws. We may also disclose information if required by law or to protect the rights and safety of Trustory, our users, or others.
5. Data retention
We retain your account data and uploaded media for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the service. You may delete stories and associated media from your workspace at any time. When you close your account, we will delete or anonymise your personal data within a reasonable period, except where retention is required by law or for legitimate business purposes (e.g. billing records).
6. Security
We implement industry-standard technical and organisational measures to protect your data, including encryption in transit (HTTPS), access controls, and secure password storage. No method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure; we encourage you to use a strong, unique password.
7. Your rights
Depending on your location, you may have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you.
- Request correction of inaccurate data.
- Request deletion of your data.
- Object to or restrict certain processing.
- Export your data in a portable format.
